On Tuesday, 26 of our 5th and 6th Year History students had the privilege of paying a visit to Aras an Uachtarain, residence of the President in the Phoenix Park.
The students and staff were met by Aide de Camp Paul Mulligan, given a tour of parts of the building, were served lovely food and had the opportunity to view a number of ‘credential ceremonies’. New ambassadors to Ireland from Belize in Central America, the Philippines and Thailand all presented their credentials to President Micheal D. Higgins in a formal ceremony in the building.
They were then treated to a real pomp and ceremony moment in the grounds of the Aras when the army band played each country’s National anthem. Each Ambassador inspected the troops before departing flanked by a cavalcade out of the park.
The weather was perfect for a December morning; crisp and dry with almost clear blue skies.
The students were praised for their impeccable behaviour throughout.
A real red letter day for St Louis! ️
Thanks to Ms Boylan for organising the day and also to Ms Flynn and Mrs Gilmore for accompanying the students with Ms Boylan.
