Second year is a formative year for the girls. Statistically, it is the most difficult year for students across the globe but we at St Louis are aware of this and make sure to have systems in place to help the girls navigate this difficult year. The girls continue with their current Year Head Ms Meehan, and she works with the two class teachers to ensure that any issues that arise are dealt with as they occur. Ms Mee and Ms Rice in the Guidance Dept are also on hand if necessary. The girls also take two periods a week in Philosophy to develop critical thinking skills which assist them in their interactions with each other.
Academically, the girls will complete CBAs (Classroom Based Assessments) for most of their subjects, forming part of their Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement. These are simply moments in the school year when teachers assess a particular piece of work the students have been working on. The marking is done by the whole Dept and the results are included in the JCPA when presented.
