When you come back to school we will ask you to wear a mask. You will need to buy or make these yourself, but by now most of you will be well used to wearing them to protect your more vulnerable family members.

There are lots of links on YouTube that will teach you how to make them from all sorts of things – socks, sweatpants – go online and have a look – or you can purchase masks that are either disposable or preferably reusable. At your induction day we will be able to answer any questions you may have about this.
The HSE has lots of useful information to help us to be mask savvy.

A cloth face covering should cover the nose and go under the chin and:

*fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
*be secured with ties or ear loops
*include at least 2 layers of fabric
*allow for breathing without restriction

DO:

*Clean your hands properly before you put it on.

*Practise using it so you are comfortable putting it on and taking it off.

*Make sure it is made from a fabric you are comfortable wearing.

*Cover your mouth and nose with it and make sure there are no gaps between your face covering.

*Tie it securely.

*Carry unused face coverings in a sealable clean waterproof bag, for example, a ziplock.

*Carry a second similar type bag to put used face coverings in.

DO NOT:

*touch a face covering while wearing it – if you do, clean your hands properly.

*use a wet or soiled face covering.

*share face coverings.

*lower your face coverings to speak, eat or drink – if you need to uncover your nose or mouth take the face covering off and put it in a bag for used face coverings.

*discard face coverings in public places.

The link below will show you how to put on your mask and how to remove it. Remember you might need two masks each day so you can take one off to eat your lunch. You will need two ziplock bags – one for clean masks and one for dirty ones.
